35TH CLASS REUNION

OUR REUNION
Our 35th Class Reunion Was Held -
July 30th - August 1st, 2004
at the -
Marco Polo Ramada Plaza Beach Resort
19201 Collins Avenue
North Miami Beach, Florida
What a wonderful time we all had at our 35th Reunion. It was a fantastic weekend
and so good seeing each of you again, as well as seeing all the alumni who
attended from other classes. I want to thank everyone who attended, you helped
to make our 35th Reunion a big success and so much fun. To those of you who were
unable to attend, we sure missed you not being there with us. The Class of 1969 is the greatest! We may be in our 50's now,
but we still know how to party and have fun. A Reunion takes many months of work
and planning, seeing the enjoyment of those attending makes it all so rewarding
and worthwhile. Now, like the rest of you, I am anxiously waiting to see our
Reunion Memory Book to relive our weekend of fun together.
If you took pictures during our Reunion, please send me a copy so that we can
add them to our Class Web Site and Memory Book. A Big Thanks...to those of
you that have already sent pictures to me.
There are so many of you that I want to thank. A special Thanks to all the Reunion
Committee, I couldn't have done it without your help and support. Thank you all
so much for the Gift Certificates. I will definitely enjoy using them. I also
want to thank Nancy Owings-Simmons for making the Table Centerpiece Decorations
for our Friday and Saturday Night Events, she is so talented and what an excellent
job she did. Nancy is a 1972 Miami Central Graduate, the sister of Conrad Owings,
and spouse of David Simmons. Thanks also to Conrad Owings for hauling his
equipment down and handling our Music and Karaoke on Friday Night. I would also
like to Thank the entire Hotel Staff for accommodating us, a special thanks to our Reunion Photographer
"Ed Nercess" of Imago Photo Studio and his assistant for an excellent job.
A Big Thanks as well to our Saturday Night D.J.'s of "Sounds Fantastic Productions",
they were great. I would also like to thank those of you who made donations to our
Reunion for prizes or gave donation prizes. Thanks to your generosity,
we were able to give away so many wonderful prizes throughout our Reunion.
And a special thanks to everyone who attended and thank you for all your compliments.
Our Reunion began with our Friday Night Event which was casual with a Barbecue
Buffet. Conrad Owings supplied our music for the night and entertained us.
He held Karaoke after Dinner, everyone who sang did an excellent job.
Henry you were great, you should sing professionally! Conrad and his Apron won't
be forgotten, sorry if that offended anyone. A Free Hotel Room Raffle was held
with two winners on Friday Night. A Door Prize Raffle was also held with
many wonderful prizes given away. After our Event for the night ended,
parties continued late into the night in a couple of the GuestRooms at the Hotel.
Some walked along the beach, while others went to the Hotel Lounge.
Saturday morning, some of us met in the Hotel Restaurant for Breakfast,
then hung out by the pool during the day. A couple contests were held
during the day. A Trivia Contest was held which proved some of us
still have excellent memories. A competition contest was also held. Where two
at a time would compete against each other to get their potato to the finish
line first. It wasn't an easy task, they had to use a cucumber which was placed
inside of a panty hose and tied around their waist. They were to maneuver their
body to make the cucumber swing and hit the potato and move it towards
the finish line. Thanks to everyone who participated and gave us plenty of laughs.
Our Saturday Night Event was light dressy and we enjoyed a Dinner Buffet.
Individual, Couple and Group Photos were taken by our Reunion Photographer.
Later in the night, he and his assistant printed out photos to those who had
placed orders. The border design used around the pictures was designed by
Oscar Lievano, he did a fantastic job, Thanks Oscar! The Photographers
Assistant made the comment that she had more fun at our Reunion than her own.
What can I say, the Class of 1969 still likes to party. Our Music for the night
was supplied by our Reunion D.J's of "Sounds Fantastic Productions".
They supplied us with so many wonderful hits from the 60's and 70's.
We enjoyed watching some of our guys doing the YMCA. Hope someone has some
good pictures of that. Another Free Room Raffle was held with two more winners
this night. A Door Prize Raffle was held with again lots of wonderful prizes
given out. We selected a Reunion King, Queen, Prince and Princess. A Category
Contest was also held. We were able to use the room Saturday Night longer than
we had planned, some continued to party late into the night, while others went
to the Hotel Lounge, and some partied in a couple GuestRooms at the Hotel again
this night.
Sunday Morning, those who could wake up in time, met for Breakfast then most
attendee's left to go home. Some of us stayed an extra night at the Hotel and
attended the Hotel Show Sunday Night before heading home on Monday. We were all
sad for our wonderful Reunion Weekend to come to a close. Stella Stringer-Beeler
made the comment that she wished the Reunion could go on for a week.
It was mentioned that we should continue to have Mini-Reunions every so often,
a Reunion Cruise in a couple years and hopefully a 40th Reunion in five years.
Thanks again to everyone for a wonderful Reunion!
Your Reunion Coordinator,
Pat Stanley-Ogle
